Natural Science
The natural sciences include biology, chemistry, physics, earth sciences, and space sciences—the study of substances, processes, and interactions of matter and energy. To succeed in any of the natural sciences, students need to display an intellectual curiosity about the natural world. Students will cultivate strong critical thinking and analytical skills along with the ability to work independently and as part of a team. These classes are designed to develop knowledge about the scientific origins of the earth and its place in the universe and to provide valuable laboratory experience.

An introduction to the physics that shapes our natural world through an investigation of the creation, transmission, and perception of sound and music. Fundamentals of oscillations, waves, forces, energy, and electromagnetism are explored through scientific inquiry of musical tones, harmony, timbre, acoustics, and acoustic and electronic instruments.

The specific project challenges students to explore a lunar lava tube with an eye toward its potential for human habitation. The overall goal is to build a rover and develop programs that allow an unmanned autonomous rover to navigate a model lunar lava tube.
