Gender and Queer Studies, Certificate of Achievement
The Certificate of Achievement in Gender and Queer Studies focuses on exploring the ideas and theories on gender, sexual identities, and social justice while examining the diverse experiences of transgender people and other diverse gender and sexual identities in various cultures and communities across historical eras. The intersection of gender and sexuality with race and ethnicity, social class, language and disability will be emphasized.
Program Level Learning Outcomes
Upon completion of this program, students will be able to:
- Describe key theories and concepts related to gender, sexual identities, and social justice.
- Apply theories of intersectionality to assess how gender and sexuality interrelates with race, ethnicity, social class, language, and disability in a variety of social factors and contexts.
- Analyze societal norms and approaches to creating and maintaining interlocking structures of power and inequality, as it relates to gender and sexuality.
