The Associate in Arts Degree in Vietnamese (AA) provides students with fundamental language skills designed to develop students' listening, speaking, reading, and writing from the beginning level to intermediate proficiency where students can function comfortably and effectively in a variety of Vietnamese-speaking environments such as with family, when traveling, at a job, and/or a career. Through the Vietnamese major, students acquire appreciation and understanding of cultural diversity and communication skills that facilitate the exchange of ideas and transactions vital to social and global connectivity. Students who earn a Vietnamese AA Degree are prepared to pursue a baccalaureate degree in Vietnamese. 

Program Level Learning Outcomes

Upon completion of this program, students will be able to:

  1. Translate spoken messages in Vietnamese.
  2. Use vocabulary and grammar to communicate orally in Vietnamese.
  3. Interpret texts and literature written in Vietnamese. 
  4. Compose writing in Vietnamese.

Recommended Program Sequence

These sequences are general course maps for students to finish all major and general education requirements for two-year completion of degrees, completion of short-term certificates, and/or fulfillment of transfer requirements.
