The Associate in Science in Public Health Science for Transfer Degree is designed for prospective California State University (CSU) who are preparing to transfer and complete a bachelors degree with a major in Public Health Science or a related field. This degree prepares students to become competent professionals in a wide variety of health-related disciplines, including but not limited to, health education, health agencies, medical centers, long-term care facilities, private and public health organizations, and local, state, and federal health departments. This degree will allow students to become the new generation of health professionals prepared to face the emerging challenges to human health.
Program Level Learning Outcomes
Upon completion of this program, students will be able to:
- Communicate strategies or tactics to improve health inequalities, such as advocacy, community organizing, and/or policy change.
- Apply personal and public health topics to real life settings.
- Identify credible information resources on personal and public health current issues.
Associate Degree for Transfer Graduation Requirements
Associate Degrees for Transfer require students to meet the following requirements:
- Completion of 60 semester units or 90 quarter units of degree-applicable courses,
- Minimum overall grade point average of 2.0,
- Minimum grade of “C” (or “P”) for each course in the major, and
- Completion of Cal-GETC.
Students should consult a GWC counselor in order to select the best pathway to meet their educational goals. For students who intend to transfer, the choice of general education will be specific to both their major and transfer institution.
