English and Math Course Placement
English and Math Placement
English and math assessment tests are not required at Coastline College.
State laws AB 705 and AB 1705 have provided students the opportunity to enroll directly into college-level math and English based primarily on high school grades. Students who have been out of high school for more than 10 years, studied outside of the U.S., or who have other circumstances where high school grades do not apply may self-place into the appropriate math level. Placement is not needed for English C1000 (Academic Reading and Writing). Please contact the Counseling Center at (714) 241-6162 for self-placement assistance.
English as a Second Language (ESL) Placement
If you are a non-native English speaker, you are encouraged to contact the Counseling Office at (714) 241-6162 or counselingdept@coastline.edu for assistance in choosing an ESL class. You may also visit the Westminster/Le-Jao campus for more information.
